Garfield County Sheriff’s reports

Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office report the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Smoking pot: At 12:11 p.m. on May 14, deputies were advised of a male juvenile smoking pot in Silt. The deputies contacted the juvenile and issued him a summons into court, then released him to a guardian.

Speeding: At 11:33 a.m. on May 14, deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding in New Castle. After investigating, they arrested and jailed Byron Lee Galliher, 28, of Rifle, on charges of speeding, driving while his license was suspended, and for an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court.

Violating court orders: At 5:59 p.m. on May 14, deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding on Little Echo Drive near Parachute. After investigating, they arrested and jailed Richard Owen Truitt, 35, of Parachute, on charges of violating a restraining order, violating bail bond conditions and domestic violence.

DUI: At 27 minutes after midnight on May 15, deputies responded to a call of unknown origin on the CMC Road (CR 114) near Glenwood Springs. After investigating, they arrested and jailed Luis Fernando Lopez-Torres, 26, who lived at the address of the call, on charges of driving while his license was under restraint, driving while drunk, and for an outstanding warrant in his name.

Criminal mischief: At 9:59 p.m. on May 15, deputies responded to a call concerning a disturbance on Morning Star Drive near Parachute. After investigating, they arrested and jailed Brandan Charles Cannon, 22, of Parachute, on a charge of criminal mischief valued at under $500.

Weapons charge: At 5:59 p.m. on May 16, deputies responded to a call from a home on Cedar Drive outside of Silt. After investigating, they arrested and jailed John E. Mikesell, 33, of Silt, on charges of prohibited use of weapons, harassment, and criminal mischief.
