Two lifts will open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the area announced in a news release Wednesday night.
The Oct. 19 opening date will be far from a record. In fact, in 2011 the area opened on Oct. 8. But last year’s opening date wasn’t until Nov. 14.
Wolf Creek is reporting a year-to-date snowfall of 28 inches, and boasts an “all-natural” base of 22 inches after receiving 4 inches of new snow in this week’s recent storm.
The Nova and Bonanza lifts will be open, and several runs will be groomed for beginner and intermediate skiers and boarders. Also, terrain on Alberta Peak and Step Bowl will be open for hikers, although Wolf Creek noted “very early season conditions.”
