Sage-grouse meetings rescheduled

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has resumed its public meetings to discuss the Northwest Colorado Sage Grouse Environmental Impact Statement, after some of the previously scheduled meetings were impacted by the recent government shutdown.

Public meetings will take place from 4-7 p.m. at the following locations:

• Oct. 23 in Lakewood, at the Lakewood Heritage Center, 801 S. Yarrow St.

• Oct. 28 in Silt, at the BLM Colorado River Valley Field Office, 2300 River Frontage Road

• Oct. 29 in Craig, at the Memorial Hospital at Craig, 750 Hospital Loop

The draft EIS considers four possible management alternatives for maintaining and increasing habitat for greater sage-grouse on BLM and Routt National Forest lands in northwestern Colorado. The alternatives apply to federal lands and minerals only, not to private lands.

Copies draft Resource Management Plan Amendment/EIS are available at the Northwest Colorado District Office in Grand Junction, or on the website at: www.blm.gov/co/st/en/BLM_Programs/wildlife/sage-grouse.html.
