Mission of the ColoRAIL organization

The mission of ColoRail, the Colorado Rail Passenger Association, is the topic of a program to be presented at the Glenwood Railroad Museum at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5. Harry Safstrom, a ColoRail board member, will be on hand to discuss the efforts of the ColoRail organization to encourage rail passenger travel and services throughout Colorado. This includes the recent success in helping bring about a return of the Winter Park Ski Train, commuter rail service to Denver International Airport and preservation of Amtrak’s Southwest Chief service to southern Colorado.

The Glenwood Railroad Museum is located in the Glenwood Railroad Depot across the street from the Hotel Denver on Seventh Street. Entrance to the museum for this program will be from the trackside of the depot. Take the stairway located to the west of the depot and walk along the depot to the museum entrance. All programs of the Glenwood Railroad Museum are open to the public.



Cody Brickell Memorial Miniature Golf Fundraiser

The Cody Brickell Memorial Miniature Golf Fundraiser for the Glenwood Springs High School wrestling team runs from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Johnson’s Park, 51579 U.S. 6 in West Glenwood Springs. Cost is $5 a round of mini golf, and there will be a silent auction, prizes, drawings and food as well. Call 379-7214 or 459-7031 for more information.



Waldorf School Tour

The Waldorf School’s first tour of the year is at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, for an in-depth opportunity to experience Waldorf classrooms in action. Tour includes Q&A with the most experienced teachers. Hear how this education, which has it roots in the early 1900s, is more applicable than ever in the 21st century. Come explore an education that not only engages children but inspires their passion for learning, and share the excitement of being a part of the fastest growing educational movement in the world. Third annual Middle Colorado River Cleanup

The Middle Colorado Watershed Council (MCWC), in partnership with Alpine Bank, will hold the third annual Colorado River Cleanup at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8. Participants will meet at Centennial Park in Rifle, disperse to several cleanup locations, and conclude at noon for a free barbecue and celebration.

Holiday Art and Craft Fair

A Spiritual Center is hosting a holiday art and craft fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Calaway Room in the Third Street Center, 520 S. Third St. in Carbondale. On offer will be wreaths, cards, jewelry, paintings, photography, books, CDs, masks, fiber and leather arts, blown glass, crystals and food, as well as live music, poetry and caricature art.
