Glenwood Springs Police Report

Editor's note: The Glenwood Springs Police Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

DUI: At 3:09 a.m. on March 30, police stopped a vehicle in at Eighth Street and Cowdin Drive for a defective brake light. The driver was unable to provide proof of insurance and was also found to be under the influence of alcohol. Jeffery S. Blum, 25, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested and taken to the Garfield County Jail where he was lodged for suspicion of DUI, NPOI and a defective brake light.

Shoplifting: At 3:27 p.m. on March 30, police were dispatched to a report of a theft that had just occurred in the 1000 block of Grand Avenue. Creighton Allen Haddon, 59, of Glenwood Springs, was identified and issued a summons for stealing food items valued at $14.02.

Domestic violence, obstruction: At 7:27 p.m. on March 30, police responded to a report of domestic violence in a parking lot in the 51500 block of Highway 6. Upon further investigation, officers arrested Robert Conrad Wiederhold, 34, address unknown, for harassment with domestic violence and Janet Rae Curry, 62, of New Castle, for obstructing a police officer. Both were lodged at the Garfield County Jail.

Theft: At 8:08 p.m. on March 30, police responded to a business in the 3000 block of Blake Avenue where a man had stolen items. Jose Guillermo Cervantes, 19, of Basalt, was issued a summons for petty theft and released.

Drunk driving: At 2:06 a.m. on March 31, police stopped a car for going the wrong way down a one-way street in the 900 block of Cooper. The driver could not provide proof of insurance and was under the influence of alcohol. Max G. Chase, 28, of Carbondale was arrested and taken to the Garfield County Jail where he was lodged for suspicion of DUI, NPOI, driving with excessive content and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

Trespass: At 12:15 p.m. on March 31, police responded to a report of a trespasser in the 2800 block of S. Glen Avenue. Robert Waldie, 44, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested and lodged in Garfield County Jail for criminal mischief and second degree criminal trespass.

False reporting, violation of a restraining order: At 4:16 p.m. on April 1, police contacted a vehicle with stolen license plates at Sixth and Laurel streets. After investigation, Cesar Daniel Lopez, 22, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested for displaying fictitious plates, failing to provide proof of insurance, false reporting and violation of a protection order (domestic violence) and lodged in Garfield County Jail. Nancy Leyva, age and address not given, was issued a summons for theft by receiving.

Shoplifting: At 12:57 p.m. on April 3, police were called to a supermarket in the 1400 block of Grand Avenue for a shoplifter in custody. Massimo Paul Izzo Jr., 21, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested and lodged in the county jail for petty theft under $25.

Driving under the influence: At 11:14 p.m. on April 3, police contacted a vehicle for driving carelessly at Highway 6 and Donegan Road. Upon contact, police saw signs of intoxication and arrested the driver. Harlan Charles Herrmann, 51, of Two Rivers, Wis., was lodged in the county jail on charges of suspicion of driving under the influence and careless driving.

Warrant arrest: At 11:56 a.m. on April 3, police observed a man on a bicycle riding in the middle of the 1000 block of Grand Avenue. Police found out that Jeffery Larry Amos, 40, of Silt, had an outstanding warrant out of Garfield County for failure to comply on an original charge of violation of protection order. He was also violating an active protection order against him and was arrested and lodged at the county jail for the warrant as well.

Driving under the influence, menacing and harassment: At 1:40 p.m. on April 4, dispatch aired a call of a disturbance at a business in the 3000 block of Blake Avenue involving a weapon. Police arrived on scene and later contacted Tony Burk Zachary Kelly, 33, of Carbondale. He was arrested for the charges of theft, menacing, harassment and suspicion of DUI and lodged at the Garfield County Jail.

Child abuse, driving under the influence: At 12:09 a.m. on April 5, police contacted a vehicle for weaving at Midland Avenue and Wulfsohn Road. The driver, Jennifer Robyn Bumpus, 39, of New Castle, showed signs of intoxication and was arrested after investigation for suspicion of DUI, FPOI, excessive alcohol content, weaving, child abuse and violation of a restraining order, and was lodged at the county jail.
