Throw a Halloween party with local libations in mind. Taste, serve and enjoy!

RED

No Coast Sushi bartender Adam Henry suggests the Cabernet Sauvignon from Palisade's Colterris Wines, produced at Theresa's Vineyards (3548 E 1/2 Road).

It offers "hints of huckleberry, nutmeg & dates," Henry said. The wine is also "full, ripe bold."

Head to the Colterris tasting room, or No Coast Sushi in Grand Junction and Fruita, to taste this local beverage. It can also be sampled at a variety of other Grand Valley restaurants — just ask your server if they offer it.

Current years listed as available on the Colterris website for Cabernet Sauvignon include 2008 through 2011.

WHITE

Henry also recommends Canyon Wind Cellars' 47-Ten white wine, also from Palisade (3907 N. River Road).

It offers "hints of fruit — grapefruit, honeysuckle, pear and kiwi," he explained.

Canyon Wind's website describes it as "perfect for camping, casual cookouts, and fun formal events."

Besides being available at No Coast Sushi in Grand Junction and Fruita, it can be purchased online for $12.95 a bottle or at various shops operating locally.

BREW

Fruita's Copper Club Brewing Company (233 E. Aspen Ave.) offers Aspen Street Coffee Porter — perfect for dark beer enthusiasts and coffee drinkers alike.

"We start with a classic English Style porter and add Aspen Street Coffee's (Fruita's local coffee shop) organic house medium roast blend to kick it up a notch," said Michele Walters-Collins, Copper Club co-owner. "The coffee porter is a regular in our beer lineup, although this batch is a little higher in alcohol than our usual brew.

"This is a great beer for the upcoming fall season to sip on a chilly night."

Pop into Copper Club Brewing Company for a pint (costing $4.50) or even ask for a growler to take home.
