Green Car Convoy stops in Glenwood today as part of 13-city tour
March 12, 2012
A group of four fuel-efficient hybrid or clean diesel cars left Denver on Sunday for an 800-mile, 13-city tour of Colorado to showcase the latest “green” cars.
The convoy is slated to stop in Glenwood Springs from 1-2 p.m. today at the Hotel Colorado.
The cars are the 2012 models of the Honda Odyssey, Ford Focus, VW Jetta TDI and VW Touareg.
Local dealers will participate at the Glenwood Springs stop.
The trip is sponsored by the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association. It ends on Sunday with a static Green Car Parade at the State Capitol.
The purpose of the convoy is to demonstrate fuel efficient technologies in environmentally friendly cars that are currently available for purchase from local dealerships.
Tim Jackson, president of the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association, said, “We encourage everyone to come out and see us when we roll into town. It will be a great opportunity to ask questions, touch and feel the newest ‘green’ cars and kick the tires.”
The Green Car Convoy comes just ahead of the Denver Auto Show, which runs March 21-25 at the Colorado Convention Center.
