Let us know about gas prices

It’s not a scoop that gas prices are high in Garfield County and east to Vail.

That’s been a renewed hot topic since a City Market fuel station opened last month in Rifle.

Gas prices historically get our blood boiling.

This isn’t unique to Garfield County. Consumers across the country often feel gouged, and everybody in the distribution chain says they barely make any money on gas.

The Post Independent next week will run a story aimed at sorting through the frustration surrounding gas prices.

We want your help. As you travel this Memorial Day weekend, send us gas prices that you see along Interstate 70 and on Colorado 82 through the Roaring Fork Valley.

Send emails to the editor, Randy Essex, ressex@postindependent.com. You could send just a price and the location, a photo of a pump price and the location — or a note about your perspective on this. If you’re willing to comment by name for the story, include contact information.

We’ll make a reader database from your observations over the weekend and mix that in with national databases to try to bring some sense to the gas price conundrum.

Thanks in advance for your help — and travel safely. Send those emails only when you are stopped or not driving.
