Coal Ridge Destination Imagination does well at Global Finals
NEW CASTLE — The Coal Ridge High School Destination Imagination team recently came back with 14th place overall in the “Global Finals” in Knoxville, Tenn., according to organizer Karren Valenteen.
This was the third time the team from Coal Ridge (located between New Castle and Silt) sent a team to the finals, and Valenteen wrote in an email that, “We hoped to be in the top 10 out of 65 high schools from around the world.”
The Coal Ridge team took sixth in its team challenge, she said, but flopped on the “instant challenge,” which dropped the overall score.
She said the team already has begun raising money for next year, hoping to go to the global finals for the fourth year in a row.
