Fin’s Grille & Raw Bar to stay in Glenwood

The owner of Fin’s Grille & Raw Bar in Glenwood Springs said Monday that he does not plan to relocate his restaurant to Rifle.
While he said Fin’s is for sale, Don Andre said if it does not sell, he will operate it for at least another year, as well as another restaurant, Sammy’s Rocky Mountain Steakhouse, in the former location of Sammy’s on Park Avenue, 412 Park Ave., in Rifle.
A news brief in the Saturday, April 19, Post Independent incorrectly stated that Andre planned to relocate Fin’s to Rifle.
Sammy’s on Park Avenue closed in October.
“Sammy’s was built by my mentor and friend,” Andre said of Walter “Sammy” Schmid. “In fact, I helped him open it. My plan is to operate it as he did then.”
Andre received a hotel and restaurant liquor license for his new business from Rifle City Council last week, but does not plan to include the microbrewery the previous owners of Sammy’s built and operated.
“Our interest is in serving good food,” Andre said. “That’s what we do at Fin’s and that’s what we will do in Rifle.”
Andre said he hoped to be open in Rifle by June 1, but it depended on permits and upgrade work at Sammy’s. Menu items for the new restaurant currently include steaks, seafood and pasta, he added.
