Workers Friday began installing barriers in Carbondale to shift traffic to the east side of State Highway 133 between Dolores Way and Colorado Avenue. Business access will be maintained, as well as two-way traffic and pedestrian access.

Beginning next week, travelers can expect:

• Closure of East Main Street at Highway 133 for roundabout construction on Wednesday, June 4 and continuing for six to eight weeks.

• Temporary traffic stops for both lanes of Highway 133 between Colorado and Garfield avenues, anticipated to last no longer than five minutes each.

• Alternating one-way traffic along West Main Street for waterline relocation work between the City Market parking lot and 7-Eleven. Stops will be temporary and motorists can expect slight delays.

Vehicular and pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained throughout the process. A temporary traffic light will be installed at the intersection of Highway 133 and Colorado Avenue to provide access to Main Street, and the RFTA bus stop across from Subway will also be relocated to Colorado Avenue.
