Locals’ Choice voting is now open through April 16

Locals' Choice, a favorite Post Independent contest, is underway for 2017. We thank everyone who submitted write-in nominations and encourage all readers to vote today through Sunday, April 16.

Make your choices in nearly 100 areas, under seven umbrella categories: Retail, Arts and Entertainment, Local Recreation, Travel & Tourism, Services, Food and Beverage, and Local Life. The ballot includes regular favorites plus some new entries worth getting to know.

Because of the contest's popularity and so winners can display their certificates by Memorial Day weekend, we are holding the 2017 Locals' Choice earlier than in previous years.

Glenwood Vaudeville Revue will host our special awards event on Thursday, May 18. We will announce the winners in each category, and we hope the event will also feature a performance by the first-place winner in the new Best Comedian category.

Results will be available online and in our special Locals' Choice section in the Post Independent on Friday, May 19.

The section will also be available at the PI office and many locations in Garfield County and the Roaring Fork Valley through the year.

The Post Independent is responding to the most frequent concern from previous years by limiting 2017 Locals' Choice voting to once per subcategory per email registration. This means every voter is equally important and helps assure the totals will represent a broad cross section of our community.
