Springtime is time for the VVH Health Fair
Ryan Summerlin April 1, 2014
Promoting good health awareness and encouraging participants to assume responsibility for their own health, Valley View Hospital is once again providing free and low cost health screenings this month.
Valley View Hospital offers three health fairs:
7-11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at Coal Ridge High School
7-11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at Roaring Fork High School
7-11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at Glenwood Medical Associates
VVH’s health fairs are educational and interactive events designed for public outreach to provide basic screening and education to people in the community. VVH health fairs consist of a variety of vendors and exhibitors that educate on all aspects of health, wellness, fitness and lifestyle improvements. Health information and testing is available to anyone older than 18, and no appointment is needed. Blood tests and free medical screening will be offered.
Participants who had their blood drawn in March will be able to receive their results. They had the option to test for cholesterol, cardiac risk, blood sugar, kidney and liver function, PSA levels, blood count and colorectal.
An optional blood chemistry analysis, including tests for cholesterol, cardiac risk, blood sugar, kidney and liver function are provided for a fee.
Blood chemistry testing requires fasting 12 hours before screening; however, diabetics should not fast. Cost for these tests are:
• Blood Chemistry Analysis, $40
• Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), $30
• Blood Count, $15
• Colorectal Kit, $10
