Marilyn Samuelson

Marilyn Joyce Samuelson of 323 Park Drive in Glenwood Springs went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 22, 2015. She was born in Austin, Minnesota, on January 1, 1928, to Herman and Hilda (Neitzel) Tordsen. She married James B. Samuelson on June 15, 1946, in Columbia Heights, Minnesota, and they were married for 55 years. On December 31, 2003, she married longtime friend Richard Elliott, and they were married for 8 years. She was an area resident for 69 years. She is survived by sons Raun, Lyle and Kyle of Glenwood Springs, Ward of New Castle, and Kern of Rifle and daughter Janielle of Spokane, Washington; sisters Maida Redder and Laurel Larson; granddaughters Wendy, Kristal, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Heather, Britton, Lisa, Ayasha, Laura, and grandsons Josh and Jack; 16 great-grandchildren; 19 nieces and nephews and their families; and former spouse and best friend Dick Elliott. She was preceded in death by husband Jim and granddaughter Jessica Samuelson. She was an elementary school teacher in the area for many years. In her retirement she served as a volunteer for many Christian organizations. Marilyn’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 11th, at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Church in Glenwood Springs. Memorials can be made to Haitian Christian Mission or Mexico Medical Mission in care of Mountain View Church or to Garfield County Youth for Christ.
