LeGrande Bair (Feb. 10, 1933 — Oct. 16, 2016)

Golden LeGrande Bair, 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep in Spanish Fork, Utah, on October 16, 2016. LeGrande was born February 10, 1933, to James Golden and Geneve Hogan Bair in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was raised at the Bair Ranch in the Glenwood Canyon outside of Glenwood Springs, Colorado. He married Kathrine Joe-Ann Dungan, January 24, 1953, in the Methodist Church in Glenwood Springs. The marriage was later sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple. She preceded him in death, July 19, 2015.

LeGrande spent his life as a sheep rancher. He loved having his family with him and teaching them to love the ranch life. He loved his horses and his dogs. His dogs were his constant companions; he trained them and they loved to serve him in any way they could. He helped many young people by teaching them while they were at sheep camp. He had many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One of his favorite callings was teaching the teenage boys about the gospel and to love the Lord. He enjoyed his time working in the Manti Utah Temple.

LeGrande was president of the Colorado Wool Growers Association. He was also nominated for awards for his efforts in conserving water on the Flat Tops. He taught many people, especially his children, to be good stewards of the land. He worked closely with the U.S. Forest Service and BLM to improve and maintain the land for both the sheep and the wildlife.

LeGrande is survived by his six children: Debbie Franks, Blountsville, AL; Sharry (Dave) Barton, Richfield, UT; Bruce (Inge) Bair, Meeker, CO; Tami (Paul) Skeem, Delta, UT; Tim (Annette) Bair, Monroe, UT; and Tom Bair, Pecos, TX; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, with 4 more on the way; sisters: Bonnie (Leon) Moon, Gayle Phillips; and brother, Craig (Doris) Bair.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Judy Eklund and Vaniel Bair; and son-in-law, Michael Franks.
