Support needed for Rifle Rotary Ball Drop

The Rifle Rotary Club is proud to have been a member of the Rifle community for more than three decades and is devoted to doing meaningful things to help improve the quality of life in our community. Our club is made up of volunteers, who have a common goal — to improve the community. Some Rotary efforts include:

Elementary School Dictionaries — In partnership with Alpine Bank and the Rifle Elks Club, the Rifle Rotary Club, on a yearly basis, distributes more than 300 dictionaries to third graders in the Rifle, Silt and Parachute elementary schools.

Exchange Student Program — For more than 30 years the Rifle Rotary Club has sponsored high school students from our community, allowing them to study in a foreign country and live with host families in those countries. The Club also sponsors students from foreign countries to come live and attend high school in Rifle.

Raising a Reader Foundation — Rifle Rotary Club is proud to support the Raising A Reader Organization, which distributes books to young children to enhance their reading abilities. It also educates parents of the importance of reading to their children.

Salvation Army Red Kettle — During the holiday season in November and December Rifle Rotary Club helps ring the bell to collect funds for the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army is dedicated to helping people that are less fortunate than we are. Last year, along with lots of community volunteers we were able to raise more than $5,000 for this worthy cause.

Gus the Bus — This terrific program brings a traveling preschool experience to hundreds of area children who would not otherwise have the opportunity.

Scholarships — Every year, Rifle Rotary provides numerous scholarships for local young men and women to continue their education.

Community Charities and Activities — We are approached by many worthwhile community charities to help further their efforts. We always try to help any charities or activities that we can.

We need your help!

In order to provide these services, the Rifle Rotary Club holds their annual Ball Drop Contest at the Garfield County Fair. You can buy tickets to get a chance to win $1,000 in cash. The more tickets you buy the more chances you have to win. During the fair we will drop approximately 2,000 balls from high in the sky in the rodeo arena. If your number is chosen you are the winner. There are also lots of other prizes given away that day. Even if you don’t win you will still qualify for many free or discounted services from our community. Tickets can be purchased at the Rifle Farmers Market, at City Market between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Aug.1, and at the Rotary booth at the fair itself. Please help support these great community programs, and get a chance at great prizes.
