Roadwork: I-70 resurfacing Rifle-Silt; Highway 133 in Carbondale
Ryan Summerlin May 26, 2014
An 11.5-mile improvement project on I-70 between Rifle and Silt is scheduled to begin today.
The $4.4 million project will consist of removing and replacing concrete pavement slabs, guardrail and striping, and repairing bridge decks. The Colorado Department of Transportation awarded the project to Multiple Concrete Enterprises of Ogden, Utah.
Lane closures will occur during the project and speeds will be reduced from 75 to 45 mph through the work zone. Vehicles wider than 14 feet will be restricted through the project.
No on- or off-ramp work is expected. For project updates, email Rifle2Silt@gmail.com or call (970) 387-8643.
Also today, weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin on a 1.9 mile, $9.4 million project to improve Highway 133, which serves as one of Carbondale’s main thoroughfares.
Plans call for the addition of a turning lane between Delores Way and Colorado and the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Highway 133 and Main Street, which is currently controlled by a traffic signal.
