Question: How can Glenwood Springs visitors navigate Grand Avenue bridge construction and find out the ins and outs of the project and potential traffic impacts?

For those who haven’t been to Glenwood Springs since the bridge replacement project broke ground Jan. 4, or for those that are visiting the city for the first time, here are a few quick facts on where and how to get everything motorists will need to know to ease travel plans this summer.

• When mapping out travel routes for a trip to Glenwood from any part of the state, the best place to start is Colorado Department of Transportation’s online information service, Cotrip.org. This website is embedded with interactive maps that inform users about road construction areas, speed limits and weather conditions. Our internal construction traffic impact updates are included in COtrip, making this a great resource for preliminary planning or last-minute trips when heading to Glenwood Springs.

• The public information team is always on call to answer any specific questions regarding GAB progress, traffic impacts and road closures. Visitors can call or text public information officers at 970-618-9897 or email info@grandavenuebridge.com.

• Visitors can also find out GAB updates and alerts by visiting grandavenuebridge.codot.gov and Post Independent coverage at postindependent.com/bridge. To view historical progress, a photo gallery on the GAB Facebook page facebook.com/GrandAveBridgeProject.

• Once you are in Glenwood, two informational kiosks depict the end goal of the project. Those are located on the corners of Eighth Street and Grand Avenue, and Sixth and Pine streets. Also, in Glenwood Springs City Hall, visitors can find project informational visual aids, a to-scale model of the end product and in-depth information on project phases. The project is currently in phase 2.

• Around town: The Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association is launching an ambassador “Wayfinder” program this week, which implements guides throughout the area to help and inform visitors on how to navigate their way through town.

• And lastly, the best for guests to find out information on the bridge, how to get around or anything else about Glenwood Springs — just ask a local.
