A car slammed into the side of a building Sunday afternoon on Eighth Street just west of Grand Avenue in Glenwood Springs, but no one was hurt.

Witnesses said the sole occupant of the BMW 530 walked away from the crash around 1:30 p.m., and no one was in the store at the time.

The impact left a sizable dent in the side of Watkins Jewelers, 213 Eighth, and cracked windows on the building and a neighboring business. Layers of brick spilled into the shop, somehow leaving display cases and merchandise intact.

Police said that the accident may have been caused by a medical issue.
