As the garden season progresses, the selection of produce offers a wider variety of herbs, greens and early season vegetables.
The Pasta Girl is featuring a new hot menu this year along with her regular selection of Pappardelle’s Pasta. Check out Julie’s lasagna, hot pasta dishes, salad selections, and gluten free options. The founders of Pappardelle’s Pasta decided that the only way to ensure that their pastas maintain the highest quality is to incorporate traditional pasta making methods, use fresh, high quality ingredients, and make small batches. I can think of a few good ways to use fresh produce in a great pasta dish!
Music begins at 5:30 p.m. with Acoustic Mayhem playing a combination of folk, old-time and bluegrass music. Please thank Downtown Drug and the Glenwood Sewing Center for sponsoring this week’s music.
Glenwood Medical is sponsoring a great new project this summer in collaboration with the market. Five dollar vouchers are available to any patient who requests one from either your physician or simply from the front desk. Vouchers are good for one month. They will be color coded for June, July and August. Each week there will be a new recipe highlighting the seasonal fruits and vegetables that are available that month at the market. The vouchers will be attached to the recipe. Physicians will hand out the vouchers in up to $20 increments to their patients. Individual patients will be able to get up to three vouchers at a time to be by requesting them at the front desk. Vouchers are good for only unprocessed fruits and vegetables.
Our weekly cooking demonstration will be given by Maureen Mozino of Molicious Mustards in the cook tent beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the southwest corner of the park. Cooking demonstrations are sponsored by the Pullman and Town restaurants and supported by Glenwood Medical Associates “Farmacy Project.”
The market booth has an array of our favorite oilcloths, tablecloths, tote bags and aprons available for your purchase. We will carry everyone’s favorite olive oils from Spain and vinegars from Paonia along with the true balsamic vinegar from Modena, Italy, that has been aged 18 years. Westwood Farms specialty sauces are always featured and are the perfect topping for ice cream, pastries or fresh fruit. Try their new lemon Champagne sauce; it’s getting rave reviews from all that have.
