Hansen’s buzzer beater leads Rams to victory over Vail Christian

Hosting the Vail Christian Saints on Wednesday night in Carbondale, the Roaring Fork Rams' girls basketball team pulled off a thrilling win thanks to a buzzer-beating putback shot by senior forward Lyndsay Hansen to cap off the 41-40 win for the Rams on their home floor.
Hansen's offensive rebound and ensuing putback shot came with just one second left on the clock following a missed shot from fellow senior forward Cindy Salinas.
Against the Saints, Hansen had one of her best games of the season, finishing with a game-high 14 points. The senior forward got off to a strong start for the Rams, scoring six points in the first quarter before being held scoreless until the fourth quarter. Roaring Fork would catch fire on offense by scoring 13 points in the final frame, led by Hansen's eight points in the final eight minutes, including the game-winning shot.
Along with Hansen's big night, Salinas also scored in double figures for the Rams, finishing with 10 points. Fellow seniors Katie Weimer and Lily Ramos added eight points each in the win, pushing the Rams to a record of 8-9, 3-4 3A Western Slope League on the season.

Looking to follow up Hansen's buzzer beater with a big performance, the Roaring Fork Rams' boys basketball team rolled to a 42-point win Wednesday over the visiting Saints to pick up its 13th win of the season.
Against Vail Christian, the Rams got off to a fast start, racing out to a 43-24 lead at the half by scoring 21 first-quarter points and 22 second-quarter points. In the first half, senior guard Aldo Pinela scored 11 points to pace the Rams, while sophomore Joe Salinas and fellow senior Jassiel Petetan scored 10 and eight points, respectively, in the first half.
The scoring onslaught would continue in the second half for the Rams as Roaring Fork would drop 14 points in the third quarter and 18 points in the fourth quarter to cruise to the win over the visiting Saints.
In the win, four Rams would score in double figures led by Pinela's 16 points. Petetan would finish with 15 points, while sophomore Ronald Clemente would add 12 points and Salinas would finish with 10 points.
