April First Friday: Spring into Wellness

What: Head to Carbondale for the April First Friday, “Spring into Wellness.” The seventh annual “Spring into Wellness” event is hosted by the Center for Human Flourishing, and features health and wellness vendors, fitness businesses, nutrition professionals and more at the Carbondale Recreation Center. After learning about local wellness services, join the fun on Main Street for food trucks and activities with Roaring Fork Fencers Club, Revel Bikes, Carbondale Public Library and more. End the night by watching the KDNK Lip Sync Battle at Thunder River Theater from 7-9:30 p.m. or dancing to tunes from Sweet Jessup and the Dirty Buckets at 8:30 p.m. at Steve’s Guitars. KDNK Local Legends Lip Sync Battle

What: Hosted by the Roaring Divas, this year’s Local Legends Lip Sync Battle promises to be epic. Support community radio and cheer on performers as they lip sync solo or with a group of up to five people while competing for a non-cash prize. 

When: 7-9:30 p.m. Friday, April 4

Where: Thunder River Theatre Company, 67 Promenade, Carbondale 

How much: $10 for KDNK members, $20 for non-members

Intro to Gym Climbing Class

What: Join the Rifle Climbing Center for a one hour session of instruction and one hour of social climbing time. Meet other people starting out in their climbing journey and learn some new skills.

When: 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 4 and April 11

Where: Rifle Climbing Center, 139 W. 3rd St., Rifle

How much: $50 a person per class

Pink to Black ft. Pink Fuzz

What: The final concert in the three-concert series Pink to Black features a grungy, punk city inspired event with tunes by Good For Now and Pink Fuzz. The Denver-based band Pink Fuzz, led by a brother and sister duo, has built a loyal fanbase while touring extensively since its inception in 2017. Enjoy specialized cocktails by El Dorado and dance to Pink Fuzz’s hazy rock, featuring music from the group’s upcoming second album, under city-themed decor at Thunder River Theater.

Bright Star musical

What: Bright Star is a sweeping tale of love and redemption set in the American South during the 1920s and ’40s. When literary editor Alice Murphy meets a young soldier returning from World War II, he stirs memories of the child she once lost, sending her on a journey to uncover the truth of her past. With beautiful melodies and moving characters, this uplifting production offers a heartfelt and hopeful theatrical experience.

When: 7-9:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5; Friday, April 11; Saturday, April 12; Friday, April 18; and Saturday, April 19. Matinee shows are scheduled for 2-4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 6; Sunday, April 13; and Sunday, April 20.

Live Music at El Dorado ft. Alex Dunn and Shawn Hess

What: Grab your boots and head to El Dorado for a mix of classic and new folk and Americana tunes by Alex Dunn and Shawn Hess. Both musicians are new to El Dorado and offer a unique mix of western, country and folk tunes.

When: 7-10 p.m. Thursday, April 10

Where: El Dorado, 358 Main St., Carbondale

How much: Free

The Bunny Tri Event 

What: The Bunny Tri is a spring-themed kids’ triathlon. Watch your kids complete a scooter race and navigate an obstacle course before snapping a photo with Glenwood Springs Parks and Recreation’s bunny friend during the Bunny Medal Awards. After the awards ceremony, kids can hit the pool for a Pool Splash from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

When: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12

Where: Glenwood Springs Community Center, 100 Wulfsohn Road, Glenwood Springs

How much: $10 for pre-registration, $12 at the door

River Bridge Regional Center’s 10th Annual Fundraiser, ‘Imagine

What: Celebrate the River Bridge Regional Center’s 10th annual event at the “Imagine” gala. Experience Carbondale by enjoying local food and beverages, entertainment, a live auction and artisan “pop up” vendors. Former Denver Broncos player Nate Jackson is the event’s celebrity emcee and auctioneer. 

When: 5:30-9 p.m. Saturday, April 12

Where: Spring Creeks Ranch, 622 Cowen Drive, Carbondale

How much: $100 for general admission, $1,000 for a table for eight

Sounds of Spring 

What: Celebrate the arrival of spring with a selection of music by the late-romantic French composer Claude Debussy. Featuring Jennifer Gary on flute and Karen Tefejian on piano. 

When: 7-8:45 p.m., Saturday, April 12
