Carbondale firefighters responded shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday to a structure fire on Garfield County Road 100 east of town.

The incident occurred at 2340 County Road 100, according to a Carbondale and Rural Fire Protection District news release.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames coming from one end of a mobile home on property that shares an access driveway with the Ackerman Log & Timber company. The structure was already 50 percent involved in flames when crews arrived, according to the release.

Crews were able to confine the fire to the one structure, the release stated. No one was living in the house at the time, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, “but it appears to be accidental in nature,” according to the release. No loss amount has been determined at this time, but the mobile home was a total loss.

“Carbondale firefighters quickly arrived on the scene,” Carbondale Assistant Fire Chief Allan Ingram said. “They did a great job attacking the fire in a safe manner. Their fast actions prevented the spread of fire to other areas of the property.”

Glenwood Springs and Basalt Fire Departments and the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office also assisted  at the fire scene.
