Teen led police on chase that closed I-70 west of Glenwood Saturday night

A chase from Parachute and a police stop 3 miles west of Glenwood Springs closed Interstate 70 in both directions for a time Saturday evening.

Reports said the vehicle being pursued kept going at 50 mph even after its right tires were flattened. The driver did not immediately respond to law enforcement commands, but was reported in custody shortly after 9:30 p.m.

By 10 p.m., one lane of the highway was open in each direction.

The reason for the chase was not known over the weekend, but Garfield County authorities said that it was initiated by Parachute police and that the driver was a 16-year-old.
