Battle of the Bands deadline extended

Entries for the Post Independent’s Battle of the Bands contest will now be taken through 11:59 p.m. on April 22. Voting will run from April 23 through 30.

The top seven winners will perform at Strawberry Days and receive cash prizes. First place will win $1,000, second will win $700, third will win $500, fourth will win $400, fifth will win $350, sixth will win $300, and seventh will win $250.

So far, nine bands have entered: Exit 90, a “Colorado country” band with rock and folk influences; Manic Acts, a metal group inspired by old school ’80s thrash; Bicycle Annie, a band specializing in covers from the ’80s and ’90s; The Kyleah Mae Band, an indie three-piece; Sol Patrol, an alternative rock band; 4am, a rock foursome; Big Dog and the Midnight Badgers, a blend of classic rock and modern indie; Crosley Hotshot, a country band; and Ghost Pepper, a rock/funk/blues/pop/folk Boston band who will be touring Colorado this summer.
