The fun starts out in Fruita on Sept. 6-7 with the 26th annual Dinosaur Days celebration at Dinosaur Journey, 550 Jurassic Court.
This is a great time to immerse yourself in the area’s fossil heritage. The event will kick off with the annual Feast of Skulls on Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. Food, drinks and entertainment will be served with a Cretaceous flair. Reservations can be made by calling 970-242-0971 and the cost is $75/person, $130/couple or $600 for a group of 10.
Saturday starts out with the Fruitadens Family Fun Run. If you don’t like running feel free to walk! Registration starts at 7 a.m. and the starting gun sounds off at 8 a.m. Pre-registration is $25/adults and $15/children (12 and under). Race-day registration prices go up to $30/adults and $20/children (12 and under). Registration forms can be picked up at any Museum site or downloaded from the Museum of Western Colorado’s website at http://www.museumofwesternco.org.
At 9 a.m. sharp the fun continues when the Dinosaur Days Expedition Quest kicks off. These activities are fun for young and old alike. Enjoy Grand Valley Zooquest’s snakes, reptiles and birds, Jurassic labyrinth, T-Rex Styling Salon, Dino Dig Spectacular, the Rockslide Bump ‘n Jump and many more fun activities.
Food will be available for purchase throughout the day. What a great way to celebrate our area’s fossil heritage!
