Four local artists celebrate the Western way of life in a new CMC ArtShare exhibition: “Women at Home on the Range.” The show opens with a free public reception at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, and runs through Jan. 19 at Colorado Mountain College’s Rifle campus.

The exhibit features new work by accomplished artists Jane Lee and Sharon Martin of Silt, Linda Loeschen of Basalt and Ruth Mollman of New Castle. Most of the women found their way to the Western Slope from elsewhere — including Chicago, New Jersey, Los Angeles — but their genuine appreciation for ranch life, wildlife and the landscapes of their rural communities is reflected in their work.

The Colorado Mountain College campus in Rifle is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please note all CMC campuses are closed Nov. 27-29 and Dec. 23 through Jan. 1.

The event is sponsored by the college’s ArtShare, an arts initiative committed to presenting a lively mix of educational, contemporary and historical art and showcasing the work of Colorado Mountain College faculty, students and community members.
