Here are some ideas for what to do this weekend.
Another First Friday in downtown Carbondale is coming your way, and you don’t want to miss this one. There’s an opening reception for a new exhibit at the Carbondale Clay Center from 6-8 p.m., The Launchpad is revealing the first reduction of the pieces in its “Square Footage: Art in Redux” show, and, as usual, all the shops and restaurants in Carbondale will be open so you have the opportunity to wander around Main Street and celebrate your community.
The Jazz Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience is finally here, and Saturday may just be the best day to check it out; you’ll see Grupo Fantasma, The Drunken Hearts, Jimmy Cliff and No Doubt. Other headliners for the weekend include Hozier on Friday and The Fray and Lenny Kravitz on Sunday. Visit http://www.jazzaspensnowmass.org for more information on lineup and tickets.
It’s Hat Day at the Redstone Art Festival. The 20th annual festival lasts from Friday through Monday, but Sunday will be especially fun as artists and attendees don their favorite hats. A demonstration from Natalie Terrell starts at 1:30 p.m., and a 20th anniversary celebration begins at 4:30 p.m. with bluegrass music, free cake and other $12 tastings. Head on over to the Redstone Inn’s lawn to check out art from 35 local artists and all the other fun that comes along with this beloved art festival.
