The city of Ouray is getting ready to do some “Grillin’ & Chillin’” and we’re all invited.
So if Rock Jam is not your thing, head to Ouray’s Fellin Park Saturday, Aug. 24, for the annual Grillin & Chillin’ Brew & Music Fest hosted by the Ouray Chamber Resort Association.
The festivities run from 1-7 p.m. with live music, regional craft brewers, distillers, and a wide selection of festival food served by regional vendors and nonprofit organizations.
Mesa County will have its fair share of representation with Copper Club Brewing Co. and Suds Bros. Brewery in Fruita, Kannah Creek Brewery of Grand Junction and Palisade Brewery among the invited craft brewers to the event. They’ll join regional brewers and distillers including: the Ouray Brewery, Horsefly Brewing Company, Avery Brewing, Durango Brewing Co., Revolution Brewing, Ska Brewing, Steamworks Brewing Co., Moab Brewery, Two Rascals Brewing, Carbondale Beer Works and KJ Wood Distillers. Throughout the day, festival-goers will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite brews.
The price is $25 for the beer tasting, which comes with a commemorative tasting glass and runs for the first five hours of the event. The festival and live musical performances are free for all.
Music for the brew fest is just as diverse as the brews. Regional favorite The David Starr Band kicks off the day followed by the funky soul sounds of Beat Mosaic. The multi-talented musical force Fierce Bad Rabbit from Fort Collins will finish the day with their gritty, pop-rock infused beats.
This event is also known for its family and pet-friendly vibe. Picnic blankets and Frisbees are welcome. Kids activities include a bounce house, zip line in the park, and more.
The fest is part of the Ouray County Heritage Weekend celebration.
