Glenwood Saturday Market

There are a variety of markets up and down the valley, all offering a wide variety of farm fresh fruits and vegetables. One large difference in the Glenwood Saturday Farmers Market is the ability to visit with the farmers that plan, plow, seed and irrigate these crops, that they then bring to this market.

Being able to visit allows you the opportunity to hear about how and where your food is grown.

Kuhns’ Peach Valley CSA Farm will bring to market Garfield County field-grown summer squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, sweet peppers, greens, basil, beans and garlic, along with “last of the season” certified organic Palisade Fairtime peaches. Also, PV grown Jonagold, gold delicious, and Jonathan apples, as well Hotchkiss organic honey crisp apples, and Gail’s flowers.

Kaleb will again be offering his freshly grilled salmon wraps for an incredibly tasty lunch. Smoked salmon spread is also a special offering this week.

At Healthy Baker the incredible apple and peach fritters have returned, becoming the perfect complement to your coffee. Also available are double stuffed focaccia bread made with sun dried tomatoes, kalamata olives, artichoke hearts, garlic, four herbs, cheddar and mozzarella; his famous vegan, organic four-seeded Dakota bread; and an organic double-stuffed hot-chilies-and-cheddar-in-sourdough bread. Those with a chocolate craving can enjoy a brownie or elvis bar; those just needing something sweet will be satisfied with a piece of scrumptious carrot cake.

Mesa Forge and Farm has freshly dug Silt Mesa-grown potatoes, winter squash, summer squash, turnips, wildflower and rabbit brush honey.

Mary’s gladiolas add a touch of summer for all, while oatmeal bread, cinnamon raisin and zucchini bread offer bread for a sandwich or snack. All large selection of Plum Daisy’s award-winning jams are also available.

The aroma of roasting chilies accompanies us as we pick the best varieties of apples, summer squash, green beans, tomatoes and winter squash as well as a variety of canned vegetables at the DeVries farm stand.

Cyn Cyr will again offer free samples of her tasty, small batch, locally made jams, jellies and pickles, as well as a selection to purchase for your week’s eating pleasure.

The Glenwood Farmers Market is in the Rite-Aid parking lot from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
