Spring has sprung and Easter arrives early this year on Sunday, April 5. Celebrate the holiday with egg hunts, concerts and religious services.

HANDEL’S MESSIAH

The Messiah Choral Society will perform at Grand Junction High School on Sunday, April 5, at 2:30 p.m. The group will perform Handel’s Messiah. The event is free and open to all ages.

BOTANICAL GARDEN EGG HUNT

More than 10,000 eggs will be hidden for children to find at Western Colorado Botanical Gardens on Saturday, April 4. Between 11 a.m. and noon, children ages 1-8 can participate in an Easter egg hunt. Children ages 1-2 will start at 11 a.m.; children ages 3-5 will start at 11:20 a.m.; and children ages 6-8 will start at 11:40 a.m.

Event organizers encourage families to bring their own baskets. The Easter bunny and other activities will also be available. Admission costs $5 per child.

DOWNTOWN VINEYARD CHURCH SERVICE

Downtown Vineyard Church will host an Easter service on Sunday, April 5, from 10-11 a.m. at Avalon Theatre (645 Main St., Grand Junction). The event is free and open to the public.

GRAND VALLEY BMX EGG HUNT

Grand Valley BMX will host an Easter Day race and egg hunt. Eggs will hold candy, money and prizes.

Registration and practice for the race will start at 12:30 p.m. The race fee is $10.

REDLANDS MESA GOLF CLUB BRUNCH

Enjoy an Easter brunch on Sunday, April 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Redlands Mesa Golf Club (325 W. Ridge Blvd., Grand Junction). Adults cost $19.95 and children under 12 cost $7.95. Reservations are required by calling 970-243-7736.

The menu includes bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, smoked-salmon platter, spiral cut ham, turkey, potatoes and more.

LOMA COMMUNITY CHURCH SUNRISE SERVICE

All are welcome to the Good Friday communion service at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 3, at Loma Community Church (1307 Garfield St., Loma). The church will host an Easter sunrise service at the Colorado River Boat Launch at the Loma exit off Interstate 70 at 7 a.m. on Sunday, April 5.

A free breakfast will be served from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the church following the Sunday service.

EASTER SERVICE AT BALL PARK

The community is invited to a bilingual English/Spanish service sponsored by the Grand Junction Ministerial Alliance on Sunday, April 5, at 7 a.m. at Suplizio Field. Bring sunglasses, a blanket and friend.

COLORADO NATIONAL MONUMENT SUNRISE SERVICE

An Easter sunrise service is set for Colorado National Monument’s Saddlehorn Amphitheater, located near the Visitor’s Center on Sunday, April 5, at 6:30 a.m. Following the service will be a continental breakfast at Redlands United Methodist Church, 527 Village Way in Grand Junction, from 7:30-10:30 a.m.
