A weekly blues jam is set every Tuesday nights at Charlie Dwellington’s (103 N. First St., Grand Junction) from 7-10 p.m. It includes open-play sessions and performances by the host band. It is free and open to the public.

High Desert Opera will give three fully-staged performances of The Secret Garden on Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 3, at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. It will feature a live orchestra and a combination of professional singers such as James Werner and Chris McKim, with many talented local singers. The shows are set for Colorado Mesa University’s Robinson Theatre (1100 North Ave., Grand Junction). Tickets cost $10-39.

Powderhorn Mountain Resort will host a New Year’s Eve Torchlight Parade and Fireworks event on Wednesday, Dec. 31. Skiers and riders parade down the mountain with lights and torches to illuminate the mountain like never before, followed by the annual fireworks spectacular. It’s fun for the whole family.

ADOBE CREEK GOLF COURSE

Celebrate New Year’s Eve on Wednesday, Dec. 31, with a dance party at Adobe Creek Golf Course (876 18 1/2 Road, Fruita). Live music with LJRJ Band, Peggy Malone and Morgan Crouse is planned with a cash bar. Admission costs $25 per person, and the party is planned from 7:30 p.m. to midnight.

Barons in downtown Grand Junction will host TightGun ThumpDown New Years Bash on Wednesday, Dec. 31, starting at 9:30 p.m. Shotgun Hodown and Tight Thump will perform.

NEW YEAR’S CELEBRATIONS IN COLORADO’S HIGH COUNTRY

Telluride will host a free New Year’s Eve Fireworks and Torchlight Parade starting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31. Justin Townes Earle will perform at Club Red in Telluride Conference Center at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $35.

Head to Ouray for New Year’s Eve on Wednesday, Dec. 31. Swing by the Ouray Hotsprings first for a dip from noon to 5 p.m. Then head to O’Brien’s Pub & Grill New Year’s Eve with “The Astral Knots” starting at 9 p.m., or the East Coast/West Coast New Year’s Eve Celebration from 7:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. at The Sherbino for $10.

Vail will host a free Torchlight Parade and Fireworks at Golden Peak at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31. Then head to Vail’s mountaintop celebration at Décimo! with EC Twins, an electronic-music duo. Tickets cost upwards of $300.
