Sheryl Crow, Motown greats at Jazz Aspen Snowmass
Motown legends Diana Ross and Smokey Robinson, along with pop star Sheryl Crow, will headline the 2016 Jazz Aspen Snowmass June Experience in the Benedict Music Tent, the nonprofit has announced.
Ross, a founding member of the Supremes and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, will perform in the tent on June 24.
Nine-time Grammy winner Crow, who last performed at the June festival in 2011, will perform June 25.
Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Robinson will play July 2, in a co-presentation with the Aspen Music Festival and School.
Jazz Aspen Snowmass also announced two artists performing at its JAS Cafe during the June Experience. Singer-songwriter Gregory Porter, who won the 2014 Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album for “Liquid Spirit,” will play a JAS Cafe show at the Aspen Art Museum on June 23, leading into the weekend at the tent.
Trumpeter and vocalist Bria Skonberg will play two nights in the JAS Cafe Downstairs at the Little Nell on June 30 and July 1. Skonberg made her Cafe debut last January, winning over local audiences with her adventurous style rooted in New Orleans hot jazz and blues, world percussion, soul and cabaret.
Tickets are scheduled to go on sale Feb. 12. For more information on these performances, other JAS special events and JAS education programs visit http://www.jazzaspensnowmass.org or call 970-920-4996.
