Skrillex, Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa and Chromeo headline X Games music

Rappers Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa, along with electronic artists Skrillex and Chromeo, will headline concerts at the 2015 Winter X Games in Aspen, ESPN announced Wednesday.
The four shows will be part of a three-day music festival at the base of Buttermilk, held in conjunction with the annual snow-sports competitions Jan. 23-25. The ticketed X Games concerts last winter moved to Wagner Park in downtown Aspen from Buttermilk, where free concerts had been held in previous years. They’re now heading back to the competition venue, with paid admission.
Tim Reed, X Games director of content strategy, said organizers counted the Wagner Park concerts as a success but wanted to keep the sports and concert events centralized at Buttermilk.
“It was a lot of fun [at Wagner Park]; it’s just this idea of how awesome it would be if you were watching a Superpipe event and then you could watch some killer music a few yards away,” he said.
Unlike previous X Games concerts at Buttermilk, which were held on the medal podium, ESPN is planning to build a larger temporary stage and concert venue, with a capacity of 5,000 for general admission and 450 VIP ticket holders at the base area, east of the snowmobile course.
“We’ve carved out what will feel like a more typical music venue, and we’re excited about the layout adjustments,” Reed said.
General-admission tickets for a four-concert package are $150, and VIP “preferred viewing passes” are $200. Both options went on sale Wednesday at http://www.xgames.com. Tickets to single concerts are not available, but Reed said they may sell single-concert tickets in coming months. The performances also will stream live online.
The lineup brings hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg, who has been performing reggae recently under the moniker Snoop Lion, to town, touring in support of his recent “7 Days of Funk” collaboration with Dam-Funk, along with six-time Grammy winner Skrillex, one of the best-known DJs in the world, the popular electro-funk duo Chromeo and “Black and Yellow” rapper Wiz Khalifa.
