Fall is here and that means its time for corn mazes and pumpkin patches. One of the largest in western Colorado is Studt’s Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze located at 21 1/2 and I 1/2 roads in Grand Junction.

The farm is open Oct. 1 -31. Hours are Sunday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The corn maze is custom made each year, and this year’s design features horses.

The farm features not only a corn maze and pumpkins, but also have dozens of activities for children of all ages. There is a hay mountain with slide, hayrides, animal train, pony rides, movie nights, corn cannons, petting zoo, two new zip-lines and additional pumpkin jumps. Entrance fees are $10 per person and includes all activities.

“It’s fun to add new attractions,” said Jennifer Studt. “We like seeing families come out and have fun, so we are always looking at what we can do for families to enjoy the day more.”

The concession stand offers dozens of snacks and treats including burgers, hot dogs, fries, nachos, funnel cakes and drinks. Burgers will be made from scratch. All pumpkin treats, like pies and cookies, are made from pumpkins grown on the farm as well, Studt added.

Returning again this year is Dark Acres, a haunted corn maze for ages 10 and up. Entrance to Dark Acres costs $10 and open every Friday and Saturday from dusk until 10 p.m.

“It’s going to be really neat,” Studt said. “It is probably one of the biggest haunted mazes in the area.”

Prices for the pumpkins start at $1 and vary in size.

The first movie night is on Friday, Oct. 2, will feature Big Hero 6. The movie starts at dusk and is included in the price of entrance.

A cyclocross and running race is also set for Sunday, Oct. 4, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. called Corny Treads, hosted by Mountain and Desert Racing.

STUDT’s HISTORY

Studt Farm is owned and operated by Jennifer and her husband, Ward Studt. Throughout the year, they grown grain crops and raise livestock. They also run a large sheep operation known as Chacon Sheep Company.

The original pumpkin patch started more than 30 years ago by Ward’s parents Jeep and Priscilla Studt. With the memories still in Ward’s mind of the pumpkin patch from his parents farm, he decided to open the patch again 10 years ago.
