SUMMER ART CAMP: 9 art-packed weeks of fun at The Art Center
Cultural Confidential Contributor
For 27 years, Summer Art Camp has given the community’s children the opportunity to explore art in all its forms and then encouraged those students to explore their own creativity.
Starting June 3, the week-long sessions immerse students daily in, among many other things, the study of art masters, cultural art heritages from around the world, the world of clay, the art of music, theater and group art installation. Each weekly session ends with a reception in which families and friends are invited to see the work that the campers have accomplished during the week. Children love this part of camp when they can “teach” their parents what they have learned.
“Summer Art Camp reflects the rich diversity of arts and cultures in its programming and strives to open young eyes to new ways of looking at and understanding the community in which they live,” said children’s education programmer Rachel Egelston.
