BEAVER CREEK — The Wailers Band brought reggae to the rest of the world outside of Jamaica, and on July 5, the remaining members of Bob Marley’s legendary band will bring their sound to the Vilar Performing Arts Center.

Through the musical support they supplied during the 1970s, the original members of The Wailers Band helped elevate Bob Marley to achieve the status of the first “Third World Superstar,” bringing reggae music to every continent on the globe.

Marley’s untimely death in 1981 at the age of 36 dismantled the band, until now as the group’s Wailers Reunited project has gained momentum.

The band’s most popular hits after Marley’s death include “No Woman, No Cry,” “A Step for Mankind” and “Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven.”

The original Wailers formed as a vocal harmony group in the Trench Town slum in 1963, initially as a quintet, but later slimming to the core of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Livingston (aka Bunny Wailer).
