20 years providing telecommunications solutions
Glenwood Springs, Colorado CO

How did the business start?
In 1992, Barry decided that there was a need in the valley for a full service telecommunication company whose main focus was customer service.
What do you sell?
TSC has specialized in Panasonic and Toshiba telephone solutions since its inception, and has now added VOIP and Hosted Solutions to its offerings. TSC is a full service interconnect, providing infrastructure wiring, phone and data jack termination, equipment installation and service of all the equipment we install. We provide 24/7 emergency service.
What positive lessons did you learn during the recession?
The recession has encouraged us to be more efficient in our processes, streamline our business practices, which has allowed us to add staff to better service our client base. In addition, TSC supports local nonprofits by providing material and labor to install donated phone systems to those entities striving to make a difference.
What strategy do you use to hire good people?
When a prospective candidate is interested in a position with TSC, they are invited to try out for a week, and during that time we have them complete the “DISC” test. When we find a good fit with the company, the candidate is invited to join the TSC family. All of the TSC technicians have been with the company for more than 10 years.
What is the strategy for growth next year?
With the recession still restricting local budgets, TSC plans to keep analyzing businesses’ telecommunication costs, which usually results in a new system being purchased with the savings created. TSC also plans to keep growing in and out of state business.
What is the best thing about running a business here?
The relationships that have been built in the valley. TSC has always prided itself as being a solution provider, and consequently have been successful because of all the close relationships built with the local community. This year will be TSC’s 20th year in business.
