Name and age for you and your husband: Kriste Edwards, 32, Rodney Edwards, 33
Branch of the military: U.S. Army
Where is your hometown? Kriste is from Radcliff, Ky., Rodney is from Portsmouth, Va.
When and why did you join the military? We both joined the military to strengthen ourselves. My husband joined in 1996, and I joined in 2004.
How did you two meet? Was it in the military? We met in the military and were in the same unit. I remember it like it was yesterday: I was rushing into the company building and he was walking out. I literally ran into him and almost knocked him over. I was a Private First Class and scared to death thinking I would get in trouble for running into him and plus I was very shy. That was our first initial meeting.
How long did you know each other before you got married? We knew each other for almost four years before we married.
What did you do before joining the military? I worked in a hospital as a certified nursing assistant.
What do you do in the military? I currently work in the training room doing administrative work. My husband is a fueler.
Where have you been deployed? My husband has been deployed three times to Iraq, and myself twice.
What military experience has most surprised you? Everything I have experienced in the military has surprised me. It’s really nice meeting so many different people and personalities. You meet and make friends with so many soldiers you will never forget.
What do you like to do in your spare time? In my spare time I like to redecorate my whole house. Then think about when I can afford to pay for it. Besides that I like reading, bike riding and crafts. My husband loves motorcycles and driving long distances.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? My husband wanted to be a truck driver when he was little, and I wanted to a mortician.
What are you going to do after the military service is over? After the military I plan to attend nursing school, and my husband wants to work a federal job working for the government.
What are you looking forward to doing while in Glenwood Springs? My husband and I are really excited about the trip to Glenwood Springs. We are looking forward to sightseeing, and taking some bike rides, rafting, checking out the hot springs, and relaxing.
