A bid to the burro in Fairplay

FAIRPLAY – Celebrating the role of the burro in the mining history of Park County, the 59th annual World Championship Pack Burro Race and Burro Days takes place in Fairplay Saturday and Sunday.

Visitors can watch burro and llama racing, enjoy a parade, pan for gold, attend Cowboy Church, watch the infamous Reynolds Gang gunfighters shoot it out and stroll through more than 175 craft, merchandise and food booths.On Sunday, the Burro Race begins at 10:30 a.m. on Front Street. Burro racers and their burros run to the top of Mosquito Pass and back – a 29-mile trip. Join in the fun and enjoy the annual Burro parade beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Burro Days is a fundraising event for the Fairplay Public Schools.
