A few questions with Kris Kringle

Myriah Krista Walker

Where do you live?

The North Pole mainly, but Mrs. Claus and I have residences all over the world.

How long have you been delivering packages on Christmas Eve?

Ho, ho, ho well that only started about 220 years ago. Before that I was delivering ice to the natives in Brazil. We have always had a nice fair trade going on down there.

What is your favorite part of your job?

Ho, ho, ho, well, picking up after the reindeer has never been my particular favorite chore. You know, its a myth that reindeer poop chocolate candies. It’s nothing even close.

No, Santa, I said what is your FAVORITE part of your job?

Ho, ho, ho, oh dear, this beard gets in the way and sometimes I don’t hear clearly. I love leaving surprises for the children. Especially when they haven’t asked for it and its something I know they will love. You know, all humans are children, whether they think they are or not.

What are some of your hobbies and interests?

The Mrs. and I ballroom dance. Reindeer Water Polo, ho ho ho, now that is so much fun. The reindeer aren’t allowed to fly and they get in a twit when they snort water up their nose, ho, ho, ho. The elves and I have a weekly paintball match. Actually that’s how it came about that my suit is red and white … it was all after a paintball incident.

What are three things everyone should know about you but probably don’t?

• I’m actually lactose intolerant. I give the milk to the reindeer. I’m quite fond of cookies though.

• I have 15 poodles, both standard and miniature. They make the reindeer nervous so we keep them at our home in the South of France.

• I’m rather fond of Oreos.

What’s the most unusual snack you’ve ever been left?

Ho, ho, ho, well there is one gentleman in Colorado that leaves out beer and oysters. A house in Switzerland always leaves a bottle of bubble bath for Mrs. Claus. That’s thoughtful. You know, she worries when I’m out there flying about.

How do you keep your energy up during the long Christmas Eve night while delivering all those packages?

Ho, ho, ho, the elves and I have a special brew we like to call Blue Reindeer. Its a bit like Red Bull, but has a warp drive aftertaste that really lingers, if you know what I mean (he gave me that glint in his eye again).

What are 3 things you cannot live without?

• Humor

• Love

• The Divine in all things

What is your favorite place to go?

Ho, ho, ho, it depends on the season really. There are so many wonderful places. But you know, if you go within your heart first, then you can travel anywhere, and then no one or no place is foreign any longer. (He winks.)
