A ‘million’ thanks

Dear Editor,

Students and staff in the Roaring Fork School District were challenged to read 1 million minutes during the month of February, which is I Love to Read Month. We are happy to report the challenge was successfully met with minutes read exceeding 1.5 million.

The reward for reaching this goal was having the student body at each school participate in “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?”

Contributions from local businesses helped to make this an exciting and challenging event. We would like to extend a “million” thanks to the following businesses: McDonald’s, Through the Looking Glass, Book Train, On Cue, Funland, Glenwood Springs Community Center and Kmart.

As the school year is winding down and summer gearing up, we remind everyone to spend some time with books over the summer.

Sincerely,

Laurie Strong,

Deb D’Angelo,

literacy specialists,

Roaring Fork School District
