A peach party in Palisade

April E. ClarkGlenwood Springs, CO Colorado

PALISADE This weekend’s fruit-focused festival in Palisade is quite a peach.

The 39th Annual Palisade Peach Festival celebrates culinary demonstrations with Colorado chefs, orchard and coffee roastery tours, fireworks, a car show and parade, and the ever-so-drippy, peach-eating contest. The festival takes place throughout the weekend with events at Riverbend Park from 1-9 p.m. today and all day Saturday in downtown Palisade.

Festival organizers say the Sunday Farmers Market is not to miss, with fresh produce – featuring plenty of Palisade-grown peaches – ready to take home for a summer feast. But avoid a run-in with Palisade’s Town Grouch.

Since 1985, a fun tradition of the Palisade Peach Festival is the election of the Town Grouch, which doubles as a fundraiser for the Palisade Chamber of Commerce.Maybe the Grouch needs to cheer up with some homemade peach pie.
