A perfect venue for wedding showcase

A pretty girl is like a melody, the old song says, and nothing is prettier than a bride.Brides-to-be will have an opportunity to see what’s hot for weddings this year at the inaugural Spring Wedding Showcase, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at the Hotel Colorado.Organizer Debbie Devereaux of WesternColoradoWeddingGuide.com said the historic hotel is a perfect setting for the show.”Fantasy themes for weddings is the hottest thing sweeping the nation,” she said. Couples get decked out in theme costumes ranging from Old West to Victorian to Civil War costumes. Or anything that strikes their fancy.”That’s why we chose the Hotel Colorado,” she said, for its historic Victorian ambiance. “We just want to have fun.”The show will offer loads of information about what it takes to stage an especially spectacular wedding. Prospective brides and grooms can get ideas about photographers, florists, wedding rings, music, honeymoons, and of course, the wedding dress.Vendors will also offer big discounts and give away prizes that include a new wedding gown. Wedding professionals on hand Sunday will include the Hotel Colorado staff, the Western Colorado Wedding Guide, Joy-Ann Creations, Special Affairs Bridal, Princess Bridal, Jam-n-Sounds, Springs Travel, Luminance Photography, A Piece of Cake, Alpine Party Rentals, Red Rooster Inn, The Dark Room, Every Bloomin’ Thing, Wink Winkler Videography, Once Upon a Cake, Costume Emporium, Sunlight Mountain Inn, Monumental Sound Machine, 4 Eagle Ranch, Susan’s Flowers & Gifts, Jackie Daly Photography, Flowered Chives, Cindy Petrehn Photography, Aspen Carriage Co., Mountain Gala, Lazy J Ranch, The Sirens, and Zentco Productions.Eight wedding seminars running throughout the day will help with the planning plans. Among the seminars offered are honeymoon planning, creating a fantasy theme wedding, and “How to avoid the biggest mistake couples make,” which Devereaux said is choosing boring music.Devereaux’s best advice to ensure a great wedding? “You just want to have fun.”
