A swinging good time

Symphony in the Valley artistic director Wendy Larson and associate director John Bokram will be two of four conductors who will lead two big-band concerts this weekend. The performances will help raise funds for the all-volunteer ensemble that performs throughout the year.The Symphony Swing at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hotel Colorado will feature Big Band sounds from the ’30s and ’40s. The orchestra will join solo singers and entertainers such as the Sophisticated Ladies, Mosaic and the Rocky Tops Barbershop Quartet. Tickets are $100 per couple or $50 per person.The 70-member orchestra will also perform Saturday night’s program, a swing-era music concert at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Roaring Fork High School. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children and $8 for seniors 70 and older. Music students get in free. Tickets are available by calling Marice Doll at 947-1389.
