A Wilder night Aug. 3

GLENWOOD SPRINGS – The New Space Theater at Colorado Mountain College in Spring Valley is the setting this Sunday evening, Aug. 3, for a look at the works of Thornton Wilder.

“Wilder than Ever” is being presented by Theater Masters, an organization founded by Aspen resident Julia Hansen to enhance audience understanding of theater, nurture theatrical artists, and bring distinguished theater professionals to the Roaring Fork Valley.

Richard Digby Day, artistic director of the London Academy of Theater, will present selections from Wilder’s plays and other writings, with students of Day performing. Excerpts will range from “Our Town,” and “Skin of our Teeth,” to “The Bridge at San Luis Rey.”

Jeanie Walla of Aspen’s Crystal Palace dinner theater is the featured guest artist and will also sing selections from “Hello Dolly,” the musical adaptation of Wilder’s play, “The Matchmaker.”

The presentation begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door. Call 948-9484 for advance tickets or more information.
