Fires can be tremendously destructive.It destroys everything in its path. When a home is in the way, lives and dreams suddenly change. Only people whose lives have been touched by the power and destruction of fire can describe what it’s like to start over. To rebuild, to change priorities and to try and get life back on track.Losing everything is the unmerciful reality that comes with many fires. Starting over and rebuilding a life along with a home is a daunting challenge.On this, the four- year anniversary of the Coal Seam Fire, the Post Independent begins a four-part series on the destructive nature of fire through the eyes and memories of people who lost it all.- Dale Shrull
