Accident closes eastbound Highway 82

EL JEBEL ” A two-car injury accident occurred yesterday at milepost 18, on eastbound Highway 82, closing the eastbound lanes for more than two hours.

A semi-trailer truck driven by James R. Foster, 52, of Greeley was heading eastbound on Highway 82, traveling in the left lane. The semi slowed and attempted to make a right turn into 18800 Highway 82, crossing into the right lane. A Toyota 4-Runner driven by John Eric Grubesic Jr., 23, of Loveland was traveling in the right lane at the same time as Foster made the right turn.

Grubesic skidded for 143 feet, then collided with the right side of the semi-trailer. The right-side front passenger, Katerina M. Bradley, 19, of La Ponte was partially ejected out of the windshield upon impact. Both vehicles came to a halt in the eastbound lanes of Highway 82.

Basalt Ambulance transported Grubesic and Bradley to Valley View Hospital. Grubesic was treated and released. Bradley was admitted for treatment. At press time there was no report of Bradley’s condition.

Charges regarding this accident are being filed with the Eagle County District Attorney’s Office.
