GLENWOOD SPRINGS ” A truck that hit a basketball-sized rock on westbound Interstate 70 shut down traffic along the Interstate for about an hour Friday afternoon.

No serious injuries were reported.

Colorado State Trooper Heath Roe said a Ford 150 pickup pulling an empty flat-bed trailer struck the rock at mile marker 125 at Hanging Lake on westbound I-70 about 3 p.m. The driver of the truck then lost control of the vehicle, which spun around and came to rest in the right-hand lane of the interstate.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, Roe said.

The passenger in the Ford truck was transported to Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs with minor injuries, Roe said. The driver did not suffer any injuries. Both were wearing seat belts, Roe said.

The westbound lanes of the interstate were re-opened to traffic about one hour after the accident, Roe said.
