Action delayedin Glenwoodwolf hybridattack case

GLENWOOD SPRINGS – Jim Wagner and Lisa Ruoff will get seven more weeks to plan their defense against city charges related to an attack by Wagner’s wolf hybrid on 7-year-old Gracie McSwain. Glenwood Springs municipal judge Vic Zerbi accepted a request by the pair’s attorney to delay further actions in the case until Aug. 17. “I will expect there will be a firm decision made on how they want to move forward with this case,” Zerbi told Snowmass Village attorney Arnold Mordkin, who is representing Wagner and Ruoff. Wagner, 57, and Ruoff, 32, were not present at Tuesday’s hearing. The two were charged in connection with the May 3 wolf hybrid attack on the Glenwood Springs girl. Ruoff was cited for vicious dog that night because she was taking care of Wagner’s animals at the time. Wagner was charged later in May. The bite occurred while Gracie McSwain was with her mother and sister taking pictures of the wolf hybrids for a school project. The little girl suffered serious facial injuries when, according to a Glenwood Springs police report, one of the three animals leaped up toward Grace and bit her in the left side of her face. The dogs were in Wagner’s fenced-in backyard at the time of the attack. Gracie, along with her mother, Chris McSwain, and sister, Devan McSwain, were on Wagner’s porch near the fence when the bite occurred.Contact Greg Massé: 945-8515, ext. 511gmasse@postindependent.com
